A Holistic Approach
Taking a holistic approach means finding and treating the cause of a condition, not just relieving the symptoms with drugs.
Painkillers, for example, can provide temporary relief for headaches. A holistic approach, however, would explore the underlying causes, such as bad posture, poor sleep patterns, stress or personal problems.
According to the holistic medicine philosophy, one can achieve optimal health by gaining proper balance in life. This can involve lifestyle modifications and may include alternative or complementary therapies such as massage.
